Join us as an Estimating Student for our Atlantic Canada district, within our Canadian Buildings sector for 4 months starting January 2027. Depending on your assigned project as an Estimating Student, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our team.

Requirements

  • Working towards a degree or diploma in civil engineering or a related field.
  • Application of various computer software programs will be required, including word processing, spreadsheet applications and drafting.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Knowledge of a variety of contract arrangements such as: Lump Sum, Design Build, Project Management, Construction Management, and Public/Private Partnership.

Nice To Haves

  • A strong desire to work in a construction environment and prior field construction experience will be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Understanding and utilizing PCL’s estimating manuals, systems and forms.
  • Reviewing quantity survey assignment with lead estimator or Chief Estimator.
  • Performing assigned quantity survey.
  • Giving quantities of major purchase items to purchasing department for pricing.
  • Transferring quantities to lead estimator.
  • Performing general subtrade solicitation duties.
  • Bid document control.
  • Performing bid day assignments.
  • Visiting job sites periodically.
  • Developing relationships with subcontractors.
  • Other duties as assigned.
