Estimating Intern
About The Position
An integral team member who assists estimators in preparing construction project bids and budgets. This role involves supporting the estimating team with various tasks related to heavy civil and highway construction projects. The intern will gain experience in basic plan reading, quantity takeoff, evaluating subcontractor and vendor quotes, and analyzing historical production and cost data. The position also includes assisting with project budget and cost tracking, attending prebid/owner's meetings, project site visits, and project bid reviews. The work environment is typically at the main office in Jacksonville, FL, with some travel required.
Requirements
- Working towards a bachelor’s degree in construction, Engineering, or other relevant fields of study.
- Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) before participation in the internship program.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from the main office.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of general construction practices.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Comfortable with Microsoft Excel.
