About The Position

Gradient Financial Group is seeking an experienced and collaborative Estate Planning Attorney to join our growing team. This role is designed for a practicing attorney who wants to apply their legal expertise in a dynamic financial services environment and serve as a trusted resource to independent financial services professionals. The Estate Planning Attorney will work closely with independent financial services professionals to provide estate planning guidance, develop strategies, and support their ability to address estate planning needs within their practices. This position will collaborate across Gradient’s broader financial services platform to provide legal expertise that complements financial, retirement, tax, insurance, and wealth management strategies. Gradient Financial Group is a financial services organization with twelve specialized entities, including Gradient Securities, which is a FINRA registered broker-dealer and SEC registered investment advisory firm.

Requirements

Juris Doctor (J.D.) or equivalent law degree from an accredited law school.
Active license to practice law and currently practicing as an attorney.
2–5 years of relevant legal experience, preferably with a focus on estate planning, trusts, probate, tax, or wealth transfer.
Strong knowledge of estate planning concepts, trust structures, wills, powers of attorney, and wealth transfer strategies.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to translate complex legal concepts into straightforward, practical guidance for financial services professionals.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple matters and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
Professional judgment and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively with attorneys, financial services professionals, CPAs, and other business partners.
A service-oriented approach and genuine interest in helping independent financial services professionals better serve their clients.

Responsibilities

Serve as a legal resource and strategic partner to independent financial services professionals regarding estate planning matters.
Consult with independent financial services professionals to understand estate planning opportunities and considerations within their clients' overall financial strategies.
Develop and communicate customized estate planning strategies that independent financial services professionals can incorporate into their planning process.
Prepare, review, and explain estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, and related documents, as appropriate.
Provide guidance regarding estate, gift, and wealth transfer planning strategies.
Collaborate with independent financial services professionals, CPAs, insurance professionals, and other professionals involved in the financial planning process.
Identify estate planning considerations and opportunities that complement broader financial, retirement, tax, insurance, and wealth management strategies.
Explain complex legal concepts in a clear, practical, and easy-to-understand manner.
Assist with trust and estate administration matters as appropriate.
Conduct legal research and stay current on applicable estate planning laws, regulations, and best practices.
Develop educational resources and materials to help independent financial services professionals better understand and incorporate estate planning strategies into their practices.
Participate in educational meetings, presentations, webinars, and training sessions for independent financial services professionals.
Build trusted relationships with independent financial services professionals through responsive, knowledgeable, and high-quality service.
Collaborate with internal teams to continually expand and improve the estate planning resources available through Gradient.
