$160,000 - $200,000Onsite

About The Position

A warm, down-to-earth family in the New Orleans metropolitan area is seeking an experienced and proactive House Manager/Butler to oversee their primary residence and neighboring guesthouse. The family employs housekeepers, nannies, and a private chauffeur and needs a self-starter who can manage household organization, vendors, scheduling, guest preparations, and general personal assistant responsibilities. This is an evolving, long-term position with the opportunity to grow alongside the family and their business.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of professional experience as a House Manager, Butler, Estate Manager, or in a comparable private-service role
  • Strong household management, vendor management, scheduling, and personal assistant experience
  • Comfortable working in homes with children and providing occasional supplemental childcare. Children are ages 12, 10, and 5 months.
  • Comfortable working around two cats and assisting with minor pet-related needs
  • Comfortable with catering to extended family during visits.
  • Must drive and have reliable transportation to and from work. Personal transportation is necessary to live here. Living expenses are arguably much lower than major markets.
  • Must be willing to work occasional early mornings, evenings, weekends, or events with advance notice
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be willing to undergo a background check
  • Open to local candidates and exceptional relocation candidates

Nice To Haves

  • Event service or private entertaining experience is preferred
  • Basic cooking ability is a plus but not required
  • A light, general tidying up of the home may be required when housekeeping is not present. Housekeeping currently visits three days a week (M-W-F), but could increase when the new house is finished construction in 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the organization and smooth daily operation of the family’s primary residence and neighboring guesthouse
  • Ensure both properties are actively ready for professional company operations (photoshoots, social media reels, conferences, conference calls, etc). This is subjective and fluid depending on the need.
  • Create and maintain effective organizational systems throughout both homes
  • Lead ongoing decluttering, purging, unpacking, and household organization projects
  • Ensure pantry/refrigerator/freezer is stocked as appropriate or requested.
  • Open packages and ensure new household items are properly organized and put into circulation
  • Help coordinate the transition of belongings and household operations between the two residences
  • Prepare, stock, open, and close the guesthouse for visiting family members, guests, or employees.
  • Serve as the primary household liaison for guests staying in the neighboring residence
  • Schedule and oversee vendors, photographers, contractors, repairs, appointments, and household services. The client has relationships with the majority of vendors, and has a deep connection with the community, but the family cannot fully manage the tasks on their own. The client will be a resource for suggesting new or alternate vendors.
  • Meet vendors at the properties and communicate with them on the principals’ behalf
  • Manage household calendars and provide general personal assistant support
  • Run errands using a family vehicle or coordinate transportation with the family’s chauffeur
  • Collaborate with the family’s housekeepers, nannies, chauffeur, and other household employees
  • Assist with preparations and act as a family representative during parties, special occasions, and events
  • Occasionally assist with vendor or property needs at nearby extended-family residences
  • Coordinate minor pet-care needs, including veterinary appointments, as needed
  • Provide occasional, limited childcare support if a nanny is temporarily unavailable
  • Anticipate household needs and recommend practical solutions
  • Take on additional responsibilities as the family, household, and business continue to grow

Benefits

  • Full Blue Cross health insurance (top-tier) with the monthly premium paid entirely by the employer
  • Retirement benefits/Profit Sharing program (requires three years of employment)
  • Annual compensation reviews and raises
  • Discretionary and holiday bonuses based on company/employee performance
  • Paid time off
  • Family vehicle/chauffeur available for work-related errands
  • Relocation assistance available for the right candidate
