About The Position

The GCU Esports department is seeking a student worker to create content for its social media platforms and support the esports community. This role involves working with a team to develop content elements for GCU Esports' social media, keeping competitive teams and the community informed about department activities. The position requires attending weekly meetings, esports events, preparing digital social media posts, maintaining project archives, and serving as a department ambassador.

Requirements

• Willingness to commit to 15+ hours a week, including weekends and weeknights.
• Strong computer and organization skills.
• Strong time management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to use or learn Adobe Creative Cloud programs (Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator).
• Ability to use or learn DSL Camera equipment and properly store photos.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a team player.
• Able to take and receive directions from GCU Esports staff.
• Ability to handle a fast-paced environment and think under pressure.
• Passion for marketing strategies for social media platforms.
• Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s program or Master’s program.
• Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
• Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.

Nice To Haves

• Preferred knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (Word, List, Teams).

Responsibilities

• Attend and collaborate at weekly meetings for current projects and planning of future projects.
• Attend esports events.
• Prepare final digital social media posts to represent esports events and community activities.
• Maintain an orderly archive of projects and a strict schedule for completed tasks.
• Serve as a department ambassador and promote the department at events and activities.
• Assist with social media or experiential marketing efforts.
• Other responsibilities as they apply.
