About The Position

About the Role & Program The ESPN Communications Department strives to grow our business as passionate and credible advocates serving with integrity the media/reporters, fans, employees and larger community worldwide. We also tell our company’s own story through content creation across multiple platforms. The Department includes a variety of teams including: the media information site ESPN Press Room; the internal company intranet site Inside ESPN; the public-facing corporate blog ESPN Front Row; ESPN Images; ESPN Archives and ESPN Presentations, as well as oversees several ESPN PR social media handles across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X and LinkedIn. What You Will Do: The intern will assist with planning, acquiring and producing materials for upcoming company productions and events – MLB/All-Star Game, ESPYS, ESPN Films, NFL & college football, Little League World Series and more.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate foundational knowledge of the media landscape, including digital, social, and traditional platforms
  • Show a strong passion for storytelling, with the ability to translate ideas into engaging narratives
  • Exhibit enthusiasm for ESPN content beyond live competition, including studio programming, storytelling formats, and brand initiatives
  • Apply strong writing skills to develop press releases, bios, and other basic communications materials with accuracy and clarity
  • Demonstrate sports knowledge and effective interpersonal communication skills, working professionally with internal and external partners
  • Manage multiple assignments simultaneously, prioritizing tasks while meeting deadlines
  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
  • Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
  • Fully available Monday through Friday for the duration of the internship, 40 hours each week
  • Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a sports information, newspaper, or team media relations environment, gained through internships, student organizations, or academic projects
  • Experience in a storytelling or content-creation role, such as writing, editing, or producing narrative-driven content across media platforms
  • Demonstrated leadership experience through professional roles, campus organizations, athletics, or extracurricular activities, with the ability to collaborate and take initiative
  • Junior or Senior year preferred
  • Major or previous coursework in Journalism, Sports Media, Communications or related major preferred

Responsibilities

  • Creating content for multiple platforms, including social media and websites, preparing news releases and online media kits
  • Monitoring media coverage and industry news across print, digital, social channels, and flag notable items for the team
  • Writing bios, creating multimedia graphics, uploading images and releases to the media site and maintaining and/or creating media lists
  • Corporate blogging on ESPN Front Row and Internal Communications on Inside ESPN
  • Leveraging and managing digital assets including creation and dissemination
  • Attending departmental and cross-company meetings
