This role is responsible for owning the end-to-end ESP migration strategy, including auditing legacy platforms, developing migration roadmaps, planning phased cutovers, and validating post-migration success. The strategist will architect data migration approaches to ensure continuity of deliverability and compliance. They will independently rebuild and QA flow logic, segmentation, and automation to ensure no functionality or personalization is lost. The role also involves defining and owning the testing and validation protocol for migrations, including seed testing, deliverability monitoring, and rendering QA. Additionally, the strategist will build migration timelines that account for enterprise complexity, such as integrations, custom events, and multi-brand or multi-region instances. Beyond migrations, the role includes owning lifecycle strategy for email and SMS for an assigned portfolio, focusing on list growth, activation, retention, and revenue optimization. This involves building content calendars with clear rationale, defining testing methodologies, and driving continuous improvement of the lifecycle roadmap. The strategist will translate performance data into actionable strategies and executive-level reports. Technical expertise in Klaviyo and Braze is required, with experience in other platforms like Iterable, Attentive, Postscript, or Salesforce Marketing Cloud being a plus. The role serves as an internal technical authority on migration-specific platform mechanics, including API behavior, custom data feeds, event tracking, and CDP connections. The strategist will independently troubleshoot complex technical issues and evaluate platform-specific migration risks, developing mitigation plans. Client and stakeholder management is key, involving leading technical discovery, presenting performance insights, communicating technical risks in business terms, and managing timelines and expectations. The role also involves setting standards for migration scoping, documentation, and execution, building reusable frameworks, and partnering with engineering on integration-dependent migrations. Finally, the strategist will act as a technical resource for other team members, contribute to best practices, and define performance benchmarks and reporting for migrations and portfolios.
