About The Position

Plans, organizes, and presents instruction and instructional environments that help English Language Learners learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their English Language Acquisition, academic skills, and social development. Monitors compliance with federal, state, and local policies governing the education of English Language Learners and the English as a Second Language Program (Title III, Elementary and Secondary Education Act -1965 I Every Student Succeeds Act -2015).

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree.
• Valid North Carolina Teaching License
• Knowledge of various methods of teaching English to non-native speakers.
• Ability to work with students and families from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to organize and communicate effectively.
• Ability to use technology to access Multilingual Learner students ACCESS scores and information.

Nice To Haves

• ESL teacher experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, and presents instruction and instructional environments that help English Language Learners learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their English Language Acquisition, academic skills, and social development.
• Monitors compliance with federal, state, and local policies governing the education of English Language Learners and the English as a Second Language Program (Title III, Elementary and Secondary Education Act -1965 I Every Student Succeeds Act -2015).
• Screen potential Multilingual Learner students with the WIDA screener.
• Help the district test all Multilingual Learners with the WIDA ACCESS test during the testing window.
