About The Position

EF Language Abroad is seeking an ESL Teacher for their Santa Barbara Campus. This role involves using EF's curriculum and blended learning approach to teach international students of varying English levels. The teacher will work under the Academic Director and alongside the Academic department, aiming to inspire language learning and create engaging classroom experiences. The position offers an hourly rate from US $20.45 to US$23.68, with an additional Admin and Preparation Rate of US$18.45.

Requirements

  • Full fluency in English (reading, writing speaking)
  • Previous experience as an ESL Teacher
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills to support a dynamic and evolving student community (student participation varies from two weeks to one year)
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Teaching or similar/related field
  • TEFL or CELTA Certificate or equivalent qualification
  • Full working rights in the USA

  • All additional languages are a plus!
  • Experience with safeguarding and student welfare is preferred
  • Experience living, working, or studying abroad is a plus!

Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare lessons: Deliver engaging General English and Special Interest (SPIN) courses that meet the diverse needs of international students.
  • Inspire language learning: Ignite students’ passion for language learning by creating interactive, immersive, and meaningful classroom experiences that bring language to life.
  • Academic administration: Track student attendance, assess progress, and provide regular feedback to support each student’s learning journey.
  • Classroom management: Foster a positive, inclusive, and dynamic learning environment where students feel safe, motivated, and empowered to participate.
  • School Spirit: Encourage students to get involved beyond classroom lessons, helping them connect through activities, events, and cultural exchanges.
  • Safeguarding and Welfare: Prioritize the well-being and safety of students, following EF’s safeguarding policies, and being ready to respond to any issues that may arise.
