About The Position

The English Language Program-OPS is seeking an ESL Instructor to prepare and deliver engaging English language lessons. This role involves teaching reading/writing, listening/speaking/vocabulary, and grammar across six proficiency levels. The instructor will assess student learning, provide feedback, maintain classroom management, and collaborate with other instructors. Responsibilities also include proctoring exams and holding paid office hours, with an additional paid tutoring hour for Reading/Writing instructors. Preparation, grading, and other instructional duties are included within scheduled teaching hours.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in English, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, English Education, or a related field.
• Experience teaching English to multilingual learners from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
• Knowledge and experience teaching academic English.
• Ability to manage a classroom effectively and create an engaging learning environment.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, or a related field.
• Experience teaching ESL/EFL in higher education or university-preparation programs.
• Experience teaching English abroad.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver engaging English language lessons using established curriculum materials along with instructor-developed supplemental materials.
• Teach assigned courses in reading/writing, listening/speaking/vocabulary, and grammar across the program's six proficiency levels.
• Assess student learning and provide appropriate feedback/academic support to students.
• Maintain effective classroom management and create a positive, engaging learning environment.
• Attend faculty meetings and collaborate with instructors within the program.
• Proctor final examinations.
• Hold one paid office hour per week.
• Reading/Writing instructors hold one additional paid tutoring hour per week.
