About The Position

This role focuses on ensuring that buyers are not acquiring environmental liabilities. The consultant will assess risks associated with various industries, including chemicals, mining, oil & gas, and heavy manufacturing, which often carry significant site and permit risks. The position is a contract-to-hire role within the Operating Partner pathway, specifically on the EHS/sustainability track.

Requirements

• 7+ years in environmental consulting, EHS leadership, or transaction environmental review.
• Degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
• Hands-on familiarity with ASTM E1527 Phase I standards and regulatory permitting.

Nice To Haves

• PE or CHMM certification.
• Experience in specialty chemicals, oil & gas, mining, or industrial manufacturing.
• Experience as an EHS or sustainability lead, driving safety performance and remediation to plan.

Responsibilities

• Scope and review Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments with qualified environmental firms.
• Assess site contamination, legacy liabilities, and ecological risks.
• Check compliance with air, water, waste, and hazardous materials permits (EPA, OSHA, and state rules).
• Review EHS programs, safety records, incident history, and open enforcement actions.
• Evaluate ESG and sustainability exposure, including emissions reporting and investor expectations.
• Estimate remediation and compliance costs and recommend indemnities or price adjustments.
• Lead EHS integration and a safety and sustainability improvement plan post-close.
