About The Position

This role involves overseeing the Exceptional Student Education (ESE) staffing process, ensuring legal compliance, providing technical assistance, screening referrals, conducting staff development, and managing public relations related to ESE services. The ESE Teacher will collaborate with various stakeholders, including parents, teachers, administrators, and external agencies, to ensure students with disabilities receive appropriate educational services and support in accordance with federal, state, and district regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts/Science in Education or field of instruction required
  • Florida Teaching Certification in the Subject Area

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the Exceptional Student Education Staffing Process, including participation in IEP teams, providing consultation, acting as a liaison between school districts, monitoring IEP development, maintaining knowledge of regulations, evaluating and recommending improvements to the instructional program, and informing schools about IEP/504 review timelines.
  • Ensuring legal compliance by safeguarding parents' due process procedural safeguards, maintaining a continuum of educational placement options, and monitoring ESE services for compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Providing technical assistance to ESE personnel regarding IEPs, assessment, and matrix issues, monitoring procedures for compliance, resolving concerns about unique educational needs, providing updated information to staff, ensuring effective articulation for students with disabilities, and monitoring ESE files.
  • Screening Tier 3 referrals for eligibility, recommending placement, and adjusting caseloads as needed.
  • Assisting with staff development, including training new ESE teachers and other personnel, delivering school-based training on ESE-related issues, and coaching staff on best practices and procedures.
  • Managing public relations by providing information to parents, schools, and agencies, collaborating with stakeholders to resolve issues and complaints, communicating effectively with all parties, and mediating conflicts.
  • Reviewing and advising on contractual arrangements with service providers, pursuing continuing professional growth, ensuring distribution of accommodation sheets, and performing other assigned duties.
