This role involves overseeing the Exceptional Student Education (ESE) staffing process, participating in IEP teams, and providing consultation to various stakeholders regarding the implementation of IEP supports and services. The position acts as a liaison between school districts to ensure appropriate placement and educational services for special needs students. Key responsibilities include monitoring IEP development, maintaining knowledge of federal, state, and district regulations, and evaluating the special education instructional program. The role also focuses on legal compliance, ensuring due process for parents and a continuum of educational options. Technical assistance is provided to ESE personnel on IEPs, assessment, and matrix issues, along with monitoring compliance and facilitating effective articulation for students with disabilities. Staff development, including training and coaching for new ESE teachers and administrators, is a significant component. Public relations involve communicating with parents, schools, and agencies, and collaborating to resolve issues. Other duties include reviewing contractual arrangements, pursuing continuing professional growth, and ensuring accommodation sheets are distributed. The position also involves screening Tier 3 referrals, recommending placement, and adjusting caseloads as needed. Performing other duties as assigned by the CAO, EVP, or Executive Area Director is also part of the role.
