About The Position

Under the supervision of the Environmental Services Supervisor, the ESD Worker performs housekeeping duties manually and by machine to contribute to the cleanliness and safety of residents, patients, guests, visitors, and other personnel. The role includes floor care throughout the hospital and, when instructed, performing duties described for an Environmental Services worker. The worker maintains equipment, follows equipment inspection and tracking procedures, and adheres to hospital policies, customer-service standards, hand hygiene, and personal protective equipment protocols. Floor-care work must follow specified safety procedures, including using caution signs, managing electrical cords safely, and using clean pads.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Ability to read and write English and follow written and verbal instructions.
One year of experience as an Environmental Service worker.
No license required.

Responsibilities

Promote a safe, cooperative, and professional health care environment to support optimum patient care.
Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, rules, and regulations, including those concerning absenteeism, ETIME, cellular telephone usage, dress code, and conduct.
Prioritize customer service by treating patients, visitors, and coworkers professionally and courteously; communicate about SBH services within areas of expertise or responsibility and direct concerns or questions to the appropriate people in a timely manner.
Scrub, strip, finish, refinish, spray buff, and maintain hospital floors as designated by the Environmental Services Department.
Maintain equipment in good working order and exchange or replace ancillary machine parts.
Perform Environmental Services worker duties when instructed.
Ensure equipment has appropriate safety labels and features.
Inventory and inspect equipment upon arrival and before use.
Track equipment using an equipment inventory log and/or daily sign-out log.
Follow hand hygiene and PPE donning and doffing protocols.
Wear gloves when hands may be exposed to cleaning solutions or soil, and wear safety glasses when high dusting, cleaning, mixing, or dispensing chemicals.
Use caution signs during floor-care operations and keep floor-machine electrical cords away from traffic, guarding them with caution signs or tape.
Dust floors after buffing and turn over or replace pads that become dirty or saturated with solution.
Operate the burnisher/press machine over traffic areas using a back-and-forth overlapping motion.
