About The Position

Oregon State University (OSU) is seeking a fully remote ERP Applications Development Manager to lead backend and frontend Workday Development Teams. This role involves migrating data from Banner systems to Workday ERP, focusing on HCM, Financial, and Adaptive Planning modules. The manager will provide hands-on Workday design, development, deployment, integration, testing, quality assurance, and support. They will also ensure Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met, promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) within the team, and participate in vendor selection, negotiation, and management. The position supervises a subset of the applications development team for OSU's University ERP systems, leading operational, tactical, and ongoing maintenance, while sustaining innovation and organizing work assignments. The role requires adherence to UIT's Data, DEI, and Security Statements.

Requirements

  • Completed bachelor's degree.
  • University support background.
  • 3+ years' experience leading backend and frontend Workday Development Teams.
  • Experience migrating data from Banner systems.
  • Experience ensuring secure Workday module implementations in HCM (HR), Financial (FIN) and Adaptive Planning Modules.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in administrative project planning and management.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in large systems design, implementation and production processing.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in customer problem resolution and troubleshooting.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in systems design and analysis, preferably in an academic setting.
  • Three years' experience as a supervisor, project manager, and/or lead assigning and tracking work of others.
  • Experience working with complex ERP level systems.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to foster and promote the values of DEI and demonstrate a commitment to inclusive excellence in the work.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership of several Workday Developers.
  • Provide hands-on Workday designs, development, deployment, integration, UAT testing, quality assurance/quality control, and support of mission-critical information and software systems.
  • Ensure SLAs are met amongst the Workday Development Team.
  • Focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) within the team's culture.
  • Partake in vendor selection, vendor negotiation/contracts, and vendor management.
  • Supervise a subset of the applications development team for OSU's University ERP systems.
  • Lead appropriate operational, tactical, and ongoing maintenance for current operational application systems.
  • Sustain existing innovation, project planning, and organize work assignments for the team of developers.
  • Support the Associate Director, Enterprise Application Services, regarding the use of the Banner ERP resources for OSU.
  • Provide managerial support, coordination, staff supervision, education, training, and technical support for the central administrative applications.
  • Apply communication strategies, business analysis, relationship building, problem-solving skills and knowledge of best practices in structured applications development methodology and IT project management to guide their development team on issues related to the design, development, deployment, integration, testing, quality assurance/quality control, and support of mission-critical information and software systems.
  • Manage prioritized service requests, define project plans for software installation/upgrades/migrations, and manage a structured application development methodology for corresponding applications.
  • Analyze, review and measure service level performance against service level agreements (SLAs) with the business service providers (internal and external).
  • Work closely with the business and service providers to negotiate and agree on service level requirements of any existing services.
  • Work with the business and service providers to define the proper metrics and key performance indicators in evaluating service delivery quality and performance levels.
  • Produce regular reports on service performance and achievement to stakeholders.
  • Organize and maintain the service level review process with the business and service providers.
  • Initiate any actions required to maintain or improve service levels.
  • Support the Associate Director with implementation and management of quality improvement processes in service and application delivery management.
  • Plan, assign, approve work, prepare and sign performance evaluations, discipline/reward, respond to grievances and hire staff.
  • Participate as a member of the Enterprise Application Services management team.
  • Coordinate work activities of this team with other UIT teams (i.e., Workday developers and integrations teams) to prevent delays, improve service and maintain the operations of the university.
