As a Veterinary Technician in the ER department, you will be responsible for triaging and monitoring incoming patients, administering treatments, performing diagnostic tests, and assisting in emergency procedures. Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • 3+ years of veterinary clinical experience
  • Strong math skills for drug dosing, CRIs, and invoicing
  • Must obtain a California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP) within 60 days (waived with valid CA-RVT license)

Responsibilities

  • Triage and monitor incoming patients, including critical and fractious cases
  • Administer treatments, medications, oxygen therapy, and IV fluids
  • Place and maintain catheters, central lines, and urinary catheters
  • Perform diagnostic tests (bloodwork, radiographs, ultrasound, CT/MRI)
  • Assist in emergency procedures (CPR, thoracocentesis, pericardiocentesis)
  • Ensure accurate documentation and communication with both doctors and pet owners
  • Provide supportive care for post-surgical and long-term patients
  • Maintain and stock emergency equipment and supplies
  • Demonstrate calmness, critical thinking, and teamwork under pressure
  • Other duties as assigned
