About The Position

As our ER Tech, you will help Emergency Department Nurses and Physicians at Dominican Hospital deliver high-quality, patient-centered care and maintain a well-supplied, organized department so they can ensure efficient and compassionate service during critical times. Every day you will utilize the AIDET principle to communicate with patients and families, accurately measure and record vital signs, weights, and visual acuity, and perform 12-lead EKGs. You will be expected to safely transport patients to diagnostic exams, assist patients with ADLs, maintain equipment and supplies, and effectively function as a unit coordinator providing clerical support.

Requirements

Strong communication skills (including AIDET)
Knowledge of vital sign ranges
Knowledge of medical terminology
Basic computer skills
At least one year of previous direct patient care experience in an emergency department or pre-hospital setting
EKG experience
Current BLS-CPR certification
EMT-CA (or NREMT-B) certification

Utilizes Chain of Command appropriately as needed.
Demonstrates ability to measure and record vital signs, including orthostatics. Demonstrates knowledge of vital sign ranges in all ranges and notifies licensed nursing staff of any abnormal vital sign.
Demonstrates ability to accurately measure and record weights on all patients in ED.
Safely transport patients to diagnostic exams
Assist patients with ADLs
Maintain equipment and supplies
Effectively function as a unit coordinator providing clerical support
