About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking an ER Registrar to join their team. Located in Nashville, Tennessee, VUMC is a leading institution in patient care, education, and research. The ER Registrar is responsible for registering all patients, gathering and entering information, obtaining signatures, and collecting applicable patient liability. This role operates on Saturdays and Sundays from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. and may involve floating between Free Standing Emergency Departments (FSED) and the main Emergency Department. Candidates with prior experience in fast-paced customer service, call centers, or Emergency Departments are strongly encouraged to apply.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Less than 1 year of relevant work experience

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in fast-paced customer service
Prior experience in call centers
Prior experience in Emergency Departments

Responsibilities

Registering all patients according to policies and procedures established by the hospital.
Obtaining signatures of patient and/or guarantor for all required forms.
Document appropriate logs pertaining to the registration area assigned regarding patient name and arrival time.
Effectively communicating with the patients of the eligibility/benefits/estimated patient portion upon insurance verification.
Thoroughly documenting the account upon registration as well as collection efforts taken.
Acknowledging patients and family members presenting to the registration areas promptly and in a professional manner.
Responsible for maintaining all information confidentially in accordance to HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) guidelines.
