About The Position

The ER Admissions Rep/Registrar maintains good public relations with hospital personnel, physicians and their staff, insurance companies, and patients. The role ensures services are authorized by contacting insurance companies at the time of service and uses hospital information systems to scan documents and identify and verify valid insurance coverage. The position coordinates patient flow, completes accurate registrations, and collects out-of-pocket payments due from patients.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
One year of experience in a hospital setting or related field.
Able to type 40 WPM accurately, including spelling.
Medical terminology knowledge and knowledge of third-party requirements.
Ability to handle stressful situations.
Flexibility in work schedule.
Communication and interpersonal skills.
Basic computer skills.
Customer service skills.
Complete a minimum of 16 hours of training with the Quality Director and 40 hours of departmental orientation.

Responsibilities

Coordinate patient flow and complete accurate registrations.
Collect out-of-pocket money due from patients.
Ensure services are authorized by contacting insurance companies at the time of service.
Use hospital information systems to scan documents and identify and verify valid insurance coverage.
Disperse paperwork to the appropriate department.
Answer incoming calls using approved scripts.
Maintain good public relations with hospital personnel, physicians and their staff, insurance companies, and patients.
Perform other duties as assigned.
