About The Position

The purpose of this role is to produce and deliver Research with differentiated market insights and actionable ideas to Barclays Clients. As an Equity Research Business Services, AVP, you will collaborate with senior analysts to produce comprehensive research reports and presentations while monitoring market trends, economic indicators, and company news to update and refine investment solutions. You will also engage with institutional clients to communicate the research findings and provide strategic recommendations. This role involves contributing to or setting strategy, driving requirements, and making recommendations for change. It includes planning resources, budgets, and policies; managing and maintaining policies/processes; delivering continuous improvements; and escalating breaches of policies/procedures. If managing a team, the role involves defining jobs and responsibilities, planning for future departmental needs, counselling employees on performance, and contributing to pay decisions. If leading specialists, it involves influencing department operations in alignment with strategic and tactical priorities, balancing short and long-term goals, and ensuring budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements. For an individual contributor, the role involves acting as a subject matter expert, guiding technical direction, leading collaborative multi-year assignments, guiding team members, identifying needs for other specializations, and training, guiding, and coaching less experienced specialists. The position requires advising key stakeholders, managing and mitigating risks, demonstrating leadership and accountability for controls, and understanding organizational functions to achieve business goals. It involves creating solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought, in-depth analysis, interpretative thinking, and extensive research, while building and maintaining trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders using influencing and negotiating skills.

Requirements

  • Ability to conduct detailed analysis and valuation of companies
  • Proficiency in financial modelling and interpreting highly detailed financial statements
  • Business Services, or related sector experience
  • Solid written and verbal communication
  • The ability to effectively convey research investment recommendations to clients

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with financial software and databases such as Bloomberg, and advanced Excel
  • Experience in building and maintaining relationships with institutional clients
  • Ability to lead projects and mentor junior analysts
  • FINRA licensing: SIE, S63, S86, S87
  • CFA designation or in process

Responsibilities

  • Analysis of market, sector, corporate and/or economic data to help develop investment theses for your coverage universe to produce best in class Research.
  • Presentation of Research views to Barclays Clients; this can be through direct, face to face and virtual interactions, Research hosted events and written communications.
  • Engagement with Markets, Client Strategy and other stakeholders, to raise awareness of your Research both to Clients and internally.
  • Prioritise interaction with the most relevant and valuable Clients for your Research.
  • Provision of insights and Research views to internal Clients to help them navigate financial markets and risks.
  • Collaboration with the Supervisory Analyst, Compliance and other stakeholders to ensure Research is produced and delivered to Clients and internal stakeholders in a compliant manner.
  • Contribute or set strategy, drive requirements and make recommendations for change.
  • Plan resources, budgets, and policies; manage and maintain policies/ processes; deliver continuous improvements and escalate breaches of policies/procedures.
  • Define jobs and responsibilities, planning for the department’s future needs and operations, counselling employees on performance and contributing to employee pay decisions/changes (if managing a team).
  • Lead a number of specialists to influence the operations of a department, in alignment with strategic as well as tactical priorities, while balancing short and long term goals and ensuring that budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements (if leading specialists).
  • Demonstrate a clear set of leadership behaviours to create an environment for colleagues to thrive and deliver to a consistently excellent standard (if the position has leadership responsibilities).
  • Act as a subject matter expert within own discipline and guide technical direction (for an individual contributor).
  • Lead collaborative, multi-year assignments and guide team members through structured assignments, identify the need for the inclusion of other areas of specialisation to complete assignments (for an individual contributor).
  • Train, guide and coach less experienced specialists and provide information affecting long term profits, organisational risks and strategic decisions (for an individual contributor).
  • Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management on functional and cross functional areas of impact and alignment.
  • Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work your team does.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the organisation functions to contribute to achieving the goals of the business.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategies.
