About The Position

The Equity Research Associate will be responsible for publishing proprietary equity research in industries aligned to the firm's Banking sectors, exhibiting the firm's expertise in the sector. This role involves creating and publishing proprietary equity research content with stock recommendations to institutional buy-side clients, conducting due diligence, providing industry expertise for capital markets equity transactions, and initiating C-suite corporate access resources. The associate will also conduct independent industry assessments and company-specific research reports, and engage with corporate client relationships at the C-Level. Level-specific duties include working closely with senior and supervisory analysts, conducting research at macro, industry, and company levels, building financial models, performing financial and valuation analyses, formulating investment ideas, writing research commentary, and potentially collaborating with Capital Markets, sales, and trading, as well as maintaining dialog with covered companies and institutional buy-side clients.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree
  • Licenses Required: the SIE and the 7 Top Off (or Series 7 for those licensed prior to October 2019), Series 63, Series 87 and either the Series 86 or a FINRA waiver for those who have completed CFA II.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience or academic study beyond BA/BS.
  • Mastery of financial and accounting concepts to facilitate the creation of in-depth financial models.
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills and teaming ability.
  • Strong analytical and sales skills

Responsibilities

  • Creating and publishing proprietary equity research content in designated industry with stock recommendations (Buy, Hold, Sell) to institutional buy-side clients.
  • Conduct due diligence and provide industry expertise for capital markets equity transactions.
  • Initiate C-suite corporate access resources to institutional equity clients including non-deal roadshows, conferences, field trips, bus tours, and conference calls.
  • Conduct independent industry assessments and company-specific research reports.
  • Involvement with corporate client relationships at the highest C- Level (CEO, President, COO, CFO, Director of Strategy, etc).
  • Works closely with senior analyst in the research production process as well as with the supervisory analysts in the publication process.
  • Conducts research at several levels: macro, industry and individual companies.
  • Builds models at the industry and company level, including market and market share forecasts, revenue, EPS, and cash flow forecasts at the company level.
  • Conducts financial and valuation analyses.
  • Formulates investment ideas.
  • Writes draft research commentary.
  • May work closely with Capital Markets, sales, and trading to help leverage the analyst's research product into the institutional client base.
  • May maintain active dialog with representatives of covered companies.
  • May work closely with institutional buyside clients to help leverage the analyst's research product.
