About The Position

Wolfe Research is seeking an Associate to join its Institutional Investor-ranked Integrated Oil & Gas Exploration Team in either New York or Houston. The role requires accuracy, attention to detail, and a great deal of critical thinking. Strong writing, modeling, Excel, and PowerPoint skills are required. As the Associate develops, responsibilities will expand to include communicating with clients and sales/traders, as well as participating in the creative process.

Requirements

  • 2026 Grad or 1-2 years of experience in sell-side research (preferably on an Energy/Oil & Gas team), on the buy-side, investment banking, public accounting, consulting or Oil & Gas industry experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university, concentration in Finance, Accounting, Math, or Statistics preferred.
  • Advanced understanding of financial modeling, experience building and maintaining 3-statement models.
  • Fully licensed with Series 7, 63, 86 & 87 preferred or expected to be completed within the first 6 months.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must enjoy following the stock market and developing industry themes.
  • Eager to work in a fast-paced environment both independently and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated academic ability with a minimum 3.5 GPA.
  • Comfortable working 10+ hour workdays and some weekends.
  • Strong writing, modeling, Excel, and PowerPoint skills.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and critical thinking.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Client service minded.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA, CPA, or CFA a plus.
  • Bloomberg and/or FactSet skills helpful.
  • Advanced Excel (macros, pivot tables, conditional formatting, short cuts), and statistics (regression, variance, covariance, and correlations).

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in all aspects of the franchise including modeling, note writing, and helping to create differentiated research analyses.
  • Communicating with clients and sales/traders.
  • Participating in the creative process.
  • Generating ideas.
  • Working closely and communicating effectively in a time-sensitive environment.
  • Balancing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Drafting reports/notes on relevant investment themes, events, and breaking news.
  • Working with large data sets in Excel/Access, and ability to source and process information independently.
  • Building and updating financial and valuation models for the companies covered.
  • Using mastery of Excel functions: shortcuts, developing complex logic formulas, mastery of reference formulas, ability to integrate graphics/data tables, formatting, and basic programming.
