About The Position

Our top-rated summer internship program is designed to give college students meaningful work experience in specific functions, providing a deeper understanding of the processes of a Fortune 500 financial services organization. The program offers interesting challenges, valuable experience, and an opportunity to get to know Thrivent. This 12-week internship is a key piece of Thrivent’s entry-level talent program to ensure a strong talent pipeline to meet the needs of the organization now and into the future. As an Equity Research Analyst Intern at Thrivent, you’ll gain hands-on experience supporting the investment research process while learning from experienced portfolio managers, traders, and senior research analysts. During the internship, you’ll help research companies and industries, organize financial information, follow market news and earnings updates, support financial model and valuation work, and prepare draft summaries or research materials. You may also join meetings, earnings calls, and internal discussions to learn how investment insights are developed and shared across the team. This internship is based in Thrivent’s Minneapolis Investments office and is a great fit for students who are curious, analytical, collaborative, and eager to learn. We welcome candidates who have demonstrated coursework in the field of asset management and/or securities analysis or minimum of 1 summer of relevant professional investment experience. Relevant experience may include full-time investment professional work, academic investment research analyst work, or internships.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated coursework in the field of asset management and/or securities analysis or a minimum of 1 summer of relevant investment professional experience
  • High academic achievement in a rigorous bachelor’s curriculum, with a preference towards finance, business, economics, engineering, data science, or related discipline
  • General understanding of investment research analyst work
  • Ability and eagerness to work effectively in a team environment
  • High level of intellectual curiosity and a continuous learning approach to gain investment industry knowledge
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Strong time management, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities while meeting tight deadlines
  • Adheres to high ethical standards and maintains confidentiality of sensitive information

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field, or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation
  • Proficient with FactSet, Bloomberg, and/or artificial intelligence tools
  • Internship experience in equity research or financial services

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior analysts with company and industry research using established templates and guidance
  • Collect and organize financial statements, SEC filings, earnings reports, and key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Monitor daily news flow, earnings releases, and market developments relevant to covered companies
  • Build, update, and maintain financial models and valuation tools under analyst direction
  • Keep databases, dashboards, and valuation metrics current for tracking company and sector performance
  • Prepare draft reports, presentations, and summaries based on analyst input
  • Support creation of earnings previews, post-call notes, and sector updates using standard formats
  • Assist in preparing materials for internal discussions and client presentations
  • Participate in meetings, earnings calls, and conferences primarily to capture information and update research files
  • Provide timely updates and organized data to enhance team research flow
  • Contribute observations from monitored news and KPIs to support investment discussions
