About The Position

Principal's Global Equity team is searching for an experienced Therapeutics Equity Analyst to join our research team within the Healthcare sector. This candidate will work with a diverse team of portfolio managers and dedicated sector analysts supporting proprietary research and investment recommendations. Role Overview Generate alpha through investment recommendations based upon in-depth, detailed proprietary analysis of therapeutics companies globally leveraging: comprehensive clinical pipeline, trial data, commercial forecasting / competitive market positioning assessments relevant medical and scientific publications / meeting updates FDA regulatory developments and policy actions / announcements Interact frequently with company management, industry experts, and other stakeholders to gather differentiated and convicted qualitative and quantitative insights Partner closely with Healthcare sector team leads, senior therapeutics analysts, and portfolio managers to provide outperformance through stock selection while working within the framework of our research process and portfolio constraints Build and maintain detailed financial and market-oriented models to forecast company performance, incorporating macroeconomic and industry-specific factors Generate timely, actionable investment ideas and communicate insights through written reports, models, presentations, and investment committee discussions Maintain research coverage of existing investments within the therapeutics for multiple portfolios

Requirements

  • 5+ years equity investment experience with a minimum of three years dedicated to therapeutics
  • Strong background in the healthcare sector, specifically within therapeutics
  • Scientific foundation in biology, oncology, or a related field strongly preferred
  • Proven track record of generating consistent alpha contributions through actively covered investment recommendations
  • Ability to distill and communicate complex scientific data into actionable investment insights
  • Possess best-in-class analytical skills, including extensive therapeutics industry knowledge, fundamental company analysis, and financial modeling

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degrees (PhD, MD) in life sciences or healthcare-related fields; MBA or Master of Science in finance also a plus, but not required
  • 2+ years buy-side experience
  • Entrepreneurial mindset; self-starter with a desire to build out individual franchise within a Healthcare dedicated team
  • Private transaction experience a benefit; preferred background is primarily in public equities
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of various financial applications such as FactSet, Bloomberg, AlphaSense
