About The Position

We’re seeking an Equipment Trainer—experienced and skilled in heavy machinery, safety compliance, and adult education—who’s eager to grow with a community-focused company As an Equipment Trainer with EAM, you’ll develop and deliver effective training programs, focused on the safe and efficient use of equipment and applicable safety programs. You will design training curriculum, schedules and conduct training sessions, ensuring trainees gain the knowledge and skills required to operate equipment confidently, and safely. The ideal candidate may be based in any of our service areas (Skeena, Robson, Fraser Valley) and would travel between each service area regularly.

Requirements

  • 10+ years experience Technical & Equipment Expertise:
  • Proven experience operating a wide range of heavy machinery (e.g., excavators, bulldozers, loaders, cranes)
  • In-depth knowledge of excavation, earthworks, and underground utility work
  • Understanding of equipment maintenance and troubleshooting procedures
  • Experience with both on-road and off-road equipment operations
  • Safety & Compliance Knowledge:
  • Strong knowledge of WorkSafeBC
  • Experience with excavation safety, shoring, confined spaces, and hazard recognition
  • Ability to identify unsafe practices and coach employees on proper procedures
  • Certification in occupational safety or equivalent
  • Experience with adult education and delivering training to diverse audiences.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid Class 1 driver’s license in good standing.
  • Positive, motivated, outgoing individual who enjoys working outdoors and demonstrates flexibility.

Responsibilities

  • Train employees on safe operation of heavy equipment and company safety programs (SWPs, hazards, safe practices).
  • Develop and maintain training content (curriculum, materials, manuals).
  • Assess training needs and customize programs for various experience levels.
  • Lead training sessions (classroom, hands-on, virtual), traveling to different service areas.
  • Coach safe work behaviors; correct unsafe practices and support continuous improvement.
  • Maintain training records, competency assessments, and certifications.
  • Coordinate with Operations and Safety teams to prioritize training and ensure compliance.
