About The Position

This dynamic role calls on someone who has a key interest in maintaining inventory and supplies. This is done by receiving, storing, delivering items to various departments in our manufacturing facility. Along with, securing the equipment stores area and supervising staff. Our facility is just under 300,000 square feet (Toronto unit specific). The equipment stores department delivers supplies to areas such as Make & Pack, Wares Wash, Final Assembly and our Kitchens. Our customers are very important to us and therefore this role calls on someone with superb customer service skills. This role is further responsible for maintaining optimal quality, health and safety and production standards.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma
  • Minimum of 3 years’ supervisory experience in a unionized setting is required
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in labour relations, grievance proceedings, discipline and terminations
  • Strong working knowledge of employee documentation
  • Detail oriented
  • Project management experience
  • Strong organizational skills, able to prioritize responsibilities and multi-task
  • Strong interpersonal skills, interact well with multiple departments as required
  • Able to work with little supervision
  • Excellent reading, writing, and oral communication skills in English is required
  • Change Agent
  • Fluency in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain/inventory control management or in economics (supply and demand) is strongly recommended
  • College diploma in same areas is recommended
  • Multi-lingual a plus
  • Other languages a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers supplies and equipment (dishes, cutlery, cups etc.) to departments by receiving and transferring items.
  • Scheduling and ensuring productivity, labor controls and efficiency standards
  • Customer service is maintained at the highest level on a daily basis
  • Responsible for safety, quality and compliance to customer specifications and regulatory requirements and company policy and procedures
  • Ensures Labor Controls are in place and are effective
  • Ensures interdepartmental communication occurs regularly
  • Work with management staff to improve performance of the unit
  • Prepares management reports (ex. attendance, HAACCP and labor) reports as required.
  • Trains and monitors employees on proper work procedures to ensure maximum productivity with minimum labor and food costs
  • Manages work-flow balancing
  • The division of responsibilities amongst employees on each shift
  • Manages daily manpower planning including assignment of responsibilities and workstations.
  • Determines when and whether to call employees in to cover staffing needs (ex. sick calls, vacation relief, medical leaves, volume changes, etc.)
  • In conjunction with department leaders determines number of employees needed by shift
  • Responsible for employee retention and monitors employee turnover
  • Accomplishes equipment stores human resource objectives by working with recruiter to select employees
  • Further objectives include orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising job contributions; recommending compensation actions; adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Meets Equipment Stores operational standards by contributing warehouse information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying system improvements.
  • Meets financial standards by providing annual budget information; monitoring expenditures; identifying variances; implementing corrective actions.
  • Moves inventory by scheduling materials to be moved to and from equipment stores area; coordinating inventory
  • Maintains storage area by organizing floor space; adhering to storage design principles; recommending improvements.
  • Maintains inventory by conducting monthly physical counts; reconciling variances; inputting data.
  • Keeps equipment operating by enforcing operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; requiring preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical/operational/manufacturing/food publications.
  • Participates in company mission by completing related results as needed.
