About The Position

The Equipment Specialist role involves performing essential functions that may include following instructions from management, executing various mechanical/technical functions, and providing front-line, preventive, and scheduled maintenance. This position requires the ability to work independently, train and coach maintenance staff and operators, and communicate effectively. The specialist is recognized as an expert in equipment maintenance, performance, and operation, possessing superior troubleshooting skills and the leadership to supervise maintenance activities. Ensuring compliance with ISO and OSHA guidelines is also a key responsibility, along with performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High level skills for mechanical, electrical, electronics, and pneumatic systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of computers and basic Microsoft tools, such as, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Maintenance Connections Software, etc.
  • Capable of working without supervision.
  • Demonstrate mastery and proficiency in the operation, maintenance, and calibration of complex high speed distribution equipment.
  • Must be a positive leader, with the ability to design and initiate training programs to develop the necessary skills required of the technical staff to maintain a high level of competence.
  • Maintain a clean workstation and follow all safety requirements.
  • Perform duties in a standing position for extended periods.
  • May require lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving material and/or product that weighs ≤ 40 pounds, no ≥ 40 inches.
  • Perform tasks and repairs frequently at heights ≥ 33 feet.
  • Perform repetitive motion activities as required to support Distribution operations.
  • Reach, push, pull, grasp, handle, bend, lean, stoop, squat, twist, stretch and work in awkward positions to perform required maintenance on equipment, machine set-up, and material movement and handling.
  • Ascend and descend stairs frequently to support production.
  • Read, understand, and assume responsibility for performance of all procedures, assignments, notices, and policies applicable to assigned area and common areas, including posted notices.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with robotics and CMMS Software is a plus.
  • Experience with distribution equipment maintenance for a minimum of 5 years is preferred, or three years of experience as a Mech/Tech IV.
  • A technical degree is preferred.
  • Experience may be substituted in place of education with approval based on the quality, and experience, relating to the specific area of specialty.
  • Power Industrial Truck (PIT) certification may be required and must be maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Follow instructions provided by Manager, or Supervisor, in assigned area, as necessary.
  • Perform all Mech/Tech. I, Mech/Tech II, Mech/Tech III, and Mech/Tech IV functions and responsibilities with no hesitation, or limitations.
  • Provide front line maintenance, as well as independent preventive and scheduled maintenance.
  • Work without supervision.
  • Actively participate in the training, coaching, and the development of maintenance staff and operators.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with co-workers, management, and departmental employees.
  • Act as an expert in equipment maintenance, performance, and operation.
  • Utilize superior trouble-shooting skills and lead all maintenance activities in the assigned area.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are in compliance with ISO and OSHA guidelines.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned by area Manager or Supervisor.
