About The Position

Galbraith’s Landscaping & Lawn Care is seeking an independent, self-motivated individual to work part-time evenings as an Equipment & Small Engine Mechanic. This role is responsible for diagnosing problems, completing repairs, and performing preventative maintenance on a variety of vehicles and small engine equipment used in a professional landscaping environment. The ideal candidate will enjoy working independently, troubleshoot efficiently, and complete repairs correctly the first time to ensure equipment is ready for crews each morning.

Requirements

  • Previous experience repairing small engines or commercial lawn equipment preferred
  • Strong mechanical and troubleshooting ability
  • Familiarity with 2-cycle and 4-cycle engines
  • Experience with commercial mowing equipment is strongly preferred
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Dependable attendance and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to safely operate tools, jacks, grinders, and shop equipment
  • Ability to lift and move parts and equipment as necessary
  • Must maintain a safe and organized work environment
  • Evening availability during the lawn and landscape season is important

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair commercial lawn and landscape equipment
  • Setup and perform routine preventative maintenance and scheduled services
  • Repair and maintain commercial zero-turn and stand-on mowers
  • Service small engines, including 2-cycle and 4-cycle equipment
  • Repair string trimmers, blowers, edgers, hedge trimmers, and similar equipment
  • Perform oil changes, filter changes, spark plug replacement, and lubrication
  • Sharpen and replace mower blades
  • Repair belts, pulleys, bearings, spindles, cables, wheels, and related components
  • Diagnose electrical, starting, fuel, and engine performance problems
  • Inspect equipment for developing problems before they cause breakdowns
  • Keep commonly needed parts, fluids, filters, blades, and maintenance supplies organized
  • Develop and maintain a clean and organized shop and work area
  • Document repairs and notify management when equipment requires additional parts or major repairs
  • Help ensure repaired equipment is ready for use by the following workday
