About The Position

The Equipment Service Technician is a Trusted Advisor to STERIS Customers in maintenance and procurement of medical devices and consumable products as part of a high performing team. In this role, our ES Techs perform effective on-site preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, equipment modification and installation support on complex mechanical, electro-mechanical and electronic units primarily in a hospital environment under a highly regulated, time-sensitive environment. Working with cross-functional teams (Tech Support, Engineering, Service Contract Management), the ES Tech escalates issues appropriately and utilizes advanced technology platforms to complete compliance-regulatory requirements, resolve and document troubleshooting issues and improve the overall Customer experience. In addition, the technician will provide Customers with information, pricing and options, utilizing clear, proactive communications during all service phases to optimize Customer operations and provide a One of A Kind experience. This is a safety sensitive position.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED with minimally 8 years of progressive work experience, including minimum of 5 years direct experience, including 3 years with STERIS equipment
  • Successful in achieving ESS II training and promotional requirements.
  • Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated leadership experience (e.g. leading teams, projects, processes).
  • Proven Customer and team engagement skills (Agile).
  • Adaptable, seeks diverse views and models respect and collaboration.
  • Adopts and champions Agile team practices and processes, with ability to transfer this knowledge to others.
  • Experienced change agent, with ability to manage own workload and help balance work across the team, models initiative and continuous learning.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Skilled in identifying and recommending/quoting Customer solutions using professional judgement and communications, and ability to coach others.
  • Identifies escalates and takes action to mitigate risks.
  • Ability to establish effective home office (High Speed internet, conducive working space, secure company owned equipment and info).
  • Ability to work flexible hours, sometimes outside “normal business hours” and overnight travel.
  • Basic computer skills (MS windows/email, navigation, mobile app, data input into multi systems).
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability pass all required background and physical assessment elements to obtain & maintain existing and new vendor credentialing requirements.
  • Associates degree or related certifications in technical/mechanical area, competitive equipment training or related military experience may be considered towards technical experience requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Drives Customer satisfaction as a primary relationship partner through pro-active, professional communication and commitment to resolving complex and rare Customer’s issues/problems expediently.
  • Addresses challenging Customer issues as the escalation point for peers and supports, coordinates plan of action with internal STERIS partners (engineering, technical support, analytics, and R&D) to drive optimal outcomes.
  • Utilize Customer protocols when entering and exiting facilities and abide by all STERIS and Customer Health & Safety protocols and procedures, and maintain vendor credentialing in accounts as needed.
  • Implements new service initiatives, facilitating early adoption across the District team as the subject matter expert.
  • Routinely reviews key performance metrics for the District, with the District Service Manager, making recommendations and decisions to positively impact the Customer Experience and improve overall District performance.
  • Manages STERIS assets utilizing electronic inventory management platform to maintain inventory, tools, personal protective equipment, vehicle, etc. to prescribed levels.
  • Demonstrates expert troubleshooting skills with abilities to repair, overhaul, or refurbish standard and special purpose equipment, new equipment, and systems components.
  • Advanced understanding of all STERIS equipment and ability to resolve issues and direct resources to accomplish the job.
  • Leads complex projects and act as liaison between the team and service operations.
  • Provides training to team on new STERIS equipment, addressing any technical training challenges.
  • Perform daily administrative duties using multiple application platforms and technology equipment (laptop, smartphone, related software). This includes, but is not limited to scheduling, effective communication, completion of service reports and activities on-site daily; Actively learning new technologies and software applications as they become available to improve productivity.
  • Trains junior technicians on systems and processes.
