About The Position

Perform installation, maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repair of all kitchen equipment. This role requires a high school graduate or GED equivalent, a valid Texas Driver's License, and EPA Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification. The technician must have working knowledge of steam, electric, and gas food service equipment, the ability to read blueprints and schematics, and possess knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems. Experience working on boilers, compressors, commercial cooking equipment, ice machines, and other refrigeration equipment is essential. The position involves daily attendance and punctuality, maintaining a professional demeanor, and completing designated technology proficiencies annually. The technician will use various office equipment and specialized food service equipment.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License, insurable with Judson ISD insurance carrier, and a good driving record
  • EPA Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certified on Types I, II, and III (Universal Certification required)
  • Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check
  • Has working knowledge of steam, electric, and gas food service equipment
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics
  • Effective planning and organizational skills
  • Possess knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work well with staff
  • Minimum of three (3) years working as in equipment repair
  • Experience working on boilers, compressors, and commercial cooking equipment
  • Experience working on ice machines and other refrigeration equipment
  • Requires a basic knowledge of technology/computer skills
  • Ability to use personal computer to access district programs, emails, and other resources

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repair of all kitchen equipment.
  • Comply with District directives and Food Service Policies and Procedures.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and periodic checks of all food service equipment.
  • Ensure that all safety regulations are followed.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams and possess knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems.
  • Estimate and purchase necessary materials to complete work orders and maintain truck inventory.
  • Develop procedures and schedule for preventative maintenance on all district food service equipment.
  • Report status of potential and/or pending problems with installed equipment to the food service director.
  • Keep all district tools and equipment in working order.
  • Complete required paperwork for maintenance requests and work orders on a daily basis.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Develop and maintain a good rapport with personnel at each facility serviced and keeps appropriate personnel advised of activities.
  • Perform occasional work after normal duty hours as required and authorized.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, based on department needs.
  • Must complete designated district technology proficiencies each year.
  • Requires a basic knowledge of technology/computer skills.
  • Ability to use personal computer to access district programs, emails, and other resources.
  • Maintain a consistent professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Ensure compliance with the Texas Educator’s Code of Ethics.
  • Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job.
