About The Position

PowerCo Canada Inc. is establishing Volkswagen Group’s largest battery cell manufacturing facility in St. Thomas, Ontario, and we are seeking a driven Co‑op student to join our team as an Equipment Planner Analyst. In this developmental role, you will support the planning and implementation of equipment across key battery cell production stages—including electrode processing, cell assembly, formation and aging, and cell finishing. This position provides hands-on exposure to advanced manufacturing processes, cross-functional collaboration, and mentorship from experienced planners. It is an excellent opportunity for students looking to apply analytical, technical, and organizational skills within a fast-paced, innovative environment shaping the future of sustainable mobility. This position is in-person and located in the charming town of St. Thomas ON. This is an 8 month co-op role for a Canadian Co-op program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Materials, or Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Interest in advanced manufacturing, industrial engineering, or production planning.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); familiarity with data analysis tools is an asset.
  • Basic understanding of technical drawings, process flows, or equipment layouts (CAD exposure is a plus).
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross‑functional teams and communicate clearly.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Willingness to learn new tools, processes, and documentation standards.
  • Self‑driven, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced, evolving project environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred Qualifications in Battery Cell Research or Internship.
  • Familiarity with simulation tools is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support equipment planning activities across multiple production stages
  • Assist in tracking project timelines, deliverables, and equipment readiness for installation and commissioning.
  • Assist preparing summary reports, presentations, and status updates for internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, quality, logistics, and automation.
  • Learn and apply industry standards and internal procedures related to equipment and process planning.
  • Collect and organize planning level data for capacity analysis.
  • Perform capacity and throughput calculations.
  • Build high-level models using simulation software.
  • Run basic scenario analyses (e.g. changes in cycle time, OEE, buffer sizes).
