Equipment Planner - Intermodal
About The Position
The Equipment Planner - Intermodal administers the assignment of rail container plans to third-party and Werner asset carriers. The role prioritizes equipment plans based on equipment utilization, dwell time, cost, and capacity, and works with carriers to support execution and communicate the impacts of failed performance. The planner works with railroad contacts on equipment-related issues, opens or escalates equipment cases, and aims to meet customer expectations and performance goals for street-turn utilization, dwell time, and cost. The position also advises the Operations Supervisor of issues or needs and performs other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
Responsibilities
- Assign rail container plans to third-party and Werner asset carriers.
- Prioritize equipment plans based on equipment utilization, dwell time, cost, and capacity.
- Work with carriers to ensure equipment plans are executed as planned and communicate impacts of failed performance.
- Advise the Operations Supervisor of issues or needs.
- Work with railroad contacts on equipment-related issues and open or escalate equipment cases to help meet customer expectations.
- Achieve performance goals for street-turn utilization, overall dwell time, and cost.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
