About The Position

The Equipment Planner administers the assignment of rail container plans to third-party and Werner asset carriers, prioritizing equipment plans based on equipment utilization, dwell time, cost, and capacity. The role works with carriers to help ensure plans are executed as intended and communicates the impacts of performance failures. The planner also coordinates with railroad contacts on equipment-related issues and escalates issues as needed to help meet customer expectations.

Responsibilities

Assign rail container plans to third-party and Werner asset carriers.
Prioritize equipment plans based on equipment utilization, dwell time, cost, and capacity.
Work with carriers to ensure equipment plans are executed as planned and communicate impacts of failed performance.
Advise the Operations Supervisor of issues or needs and perform other duties assigned by supervisory personnel.
Work with railroad contacts on equipment-related issues, including opening cases or escalating equipment issues to help meet customer expectations.
Achieve performance goals related to street turn utilization, overall dwell time, and cost.
