Position Summary York Building Products is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. In this role, you'll safely operate a variety of heavy construction and mining equipment while supporting daily production and maintaining equipment in peak operating condition. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in operating equipment safely and efficiently, and thrives in a hands-on environment.

Requirements

  • Experience operating heavy construction equipment.
  • Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation and preventive maintenance.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow safety procedures and operating instructions.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and flexible schedules as business demands.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Candidates should be able to: Walk, stand, bend, stoop, climb, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Safely enter, exit, and operate heavy equipment.
  • Work safely in a physically demanding industrial environment.

Nice To Haves

  • One to two years of preventive maintenance and lubrication experience is preferred.
  • Previous mining or quarry experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate heavy equipment including front-end loaders, dozers, haul trucks, and excavators.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and routine preventive maintenance.
  • Identify and report equipment issues to help minimize downtime.
  • Work safely and efficiently while supporting production goals.
  • Communicate professionally and respectfully with customers, coworkers, and management.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and adapt to changing operational needs.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
