About The Position

Silver Springs Organics, a Waste Connections company, is hiring a Heavy Equipment Operator to join their growing team in Rainier, Washington. This role is responsible for operating various heavy equipment such as loaders, excavators, skid steers, grinders, and screeners to support composting operations, organics processing, material handling, and site production. The company is looking for individuals with experience in operating heavy equipment in environments like construction, landscaping, waste management, recycling, compost facilities, forestry, or agriculture. The schedule for this position is Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with Tuesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays off. The pay rate is $28.00 - $30.00 per hour. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Previous experience operating heavy equipment required.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and equipment inspection skills.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety.
  • Consistent attendance and reliability.
  • Ability to perform outdoor physical labor in varying weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating loaders, excavators, skid steers, wheel loaders, or similar equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment including loaders, excavators, skid steers, grinders, screeners, and related machinery.
  • Process, move, stockpile, and load compost, organics, and finished products.
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections.
  • Identify, document, and report equipment maintenance needs.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and follow all company safety procedures.
  • Assist with site housekeeping, cleanup, and general facility maintenance.
  • Follow environmental regulations, operating procedures, and safety standards.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, mechanics, truck drivers, and team members.
  • Support additional site operations and special projects as assigned.
