About The Position

The Equipment Operator is responsible for the transport of materials and equipment between various types of establishments or warehouses. The Equipment Operator supports the Naval Medical Readiness Logistic Command (NMRLC) Expeditionary Medical Systems (EXMEDS) mission requirements by operating various sizes of trucks and equipment maintained by the Civil Engineer Equipment Support section.

Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as an equipment operator.
  • Must be able to operate vehicles up to 80,000 lbs.
  • Must have a valid Commercial driver’s license (A endorsement), standard transmission with trailer endorsement and ability to obtain certification to operate a 4-30k forklift.
  • Must be familiar with pertinent federal, state, and local laws, regulations, policies, and precedents which affect the use of vehicles and equipment on federal and state roads.
  • Must be familiar with hazardous materials transport and vehicle regulations associated with transporting such material.
  • Must be able to follow and understand Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and Work Instructions
  • Must be able to Read, Write and clearly communicate work processes with leadership and peers.
  • Must be detailed oriented.
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team member.
  • Must be able to work in an Austere environment.
  • Must be dependable in meeting work schedules requirements
  • Must be able to work a light to moderate physical effort. Requirements include walking, standing, reaching, bending, and moving items. May require lifting and carrying weight over 45 pounds. Work is performed on hard surfaces.
  • Must have a current valid driver’s license.
  • Must possess U.S. Citizenship to apply for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine dispatching, scheduling and coordinate preventive maintenance, corrective (unscheduled) maintenance, and record data for all NTVE and MHE. This includes equipment in the possession of the government and contractor (GFE).
  • Inspect vehicles before and after use, for damage, safe operating condition, safety and ensure basic initial issue equipment is present and shall initiate accident reporting with NTVE/MHE managers and safety personnel.
  • Annotate starting and ending mileage accumulations and will be tracked daily on the dispatcher’s log and will be reported with the additional reporting of NMRLC utilized assets.
