Perform semi-skilled manual work in connection with power plant operation. This role involves isolating, cleaning, opening, replacing, inspecting, closing, and returning plant equipment to service. Responsibilities include operating, regulating, adjusting, cleaning, and performing minor maintenance on plant auxiliary systems, as well as monitoring and inspecting all plant equipment for normal operation. The position requires identifying and reporting abnormal conditions, writing work orders, and operating, cleaning, servicing, and lubricating portable power-driven tools and equipment. Additionally, the role involves erecting and removing simple scaffolding and rigging, performing routine cleaning of plant areas and equipment, and handling materials and supplies. Monitoring water chemistry, maintaining water pH, and adhering to EPA guidelines are also key aspects. The Equipment Operator will assist in preparing boilers and auxiliaries for operation and removal from service, and if applicable, monitor coal feed to mills and burners, observe conditions of fires and furnaces, and perform tasks such as hand lancing slag in boilers and unplugging ash lines. Using flow diagrams to identify system piping and equipment, revising prints, making equipment checks, assisting in tests, and preparing related reports are also part of the duties. The role requires performing duties in accordance with the Company's safety rules and operating regulations, reporting unsafe conditions, and training for and carrying out assignments in firefighting, first aid, and other emergency response programs.
