This position involves performing semi-skilled manual work essential for power plant operations. Key responsibilities include isolating, cleaning, operating, regulating, adjusting, and conducting minor maintenance on various plant equipment and auxiliary systems. The role requires continuous monitoring and inspection of all plant equipment to ensure normal operation, promptly identifying and reporting any abnormal conditions, and generating work orders as needed. Additionally, the operator will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining water chemistry in accordance with EPA guidelines. The role also entails assisting in the preparation and removal from service of boilers and their auxiliaries, monitoring coal feed, and performing tasks such as hand lancing slag and operating soot blowers. Routine cleaning of plant areas, both indoor and outdoor, and handling materials, supplies, and equipment are also part of the job.
