Equipment Operator II (Full Time)
About The Position
The Equipment Operator II operates specialized equipment and performs specific tasks related to maintaining golf course grounds. The role is based at TPC Southwind, a private golf course in Southeast Memphis, Tennessee, and involves working outdoors in varied weather conditions. The position requires following established task procedures and safety standards, maintaining equipment and the maintenance facility, and performing golf course maintenance duties. Travel is not expected, and shifts are scheduled as necessary based on business levels. The position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- At least six months of experience as an Equipment Operator I, or at least one year of experience in golf course operations or a similar position.
- Education in turfgrass management or a related field may substitute for the work-experience requirement.
- Ability to lift, pull, or push up to or over 50 pounds and move or lift awkwardly weighted items.
- Required vision abilities include close vision, depth perception, color vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
- Ability to comply with applicable safety and health regulations.
Responsibilities
- Perform all duties and tasks associated with the Equipment Operator I position.
- Maintain logs of machine operation, maintenance, and fuel usage.
- Complete daily tasks to keep the maintenance facility clean, organized, and safe.
- Clean machinery after each use.
- Inspect machines and report deficiencies to the Equipment Technician.
- Perform routine golf course maintenance and other duties as directed by the Director of Golf Course Maintenance Operations or an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent.
- Receive thorough training in task procedures before performing each task.
- Follow the Golf Course Maintenance Operations Manual guidelines for each task.
- Perform trained maintenance tasks, including tri-plex mowing of tees, approaches, fairway collars, and rough; aerifying greens and tees; spiking greens; vertical mowing greens and tees; mechanical topdressing of greens and tees; operating a sod cutter; mechanical bunker raking; and drainage installation and repair.
- Wear required personal protective clothing and use protective equipment in accordance with safety standards.
- Perform special projects or other assigned duties.
- Comply with applicable federal, state, and local safety and health regulations.
