Equipment Operator II (Full Time)
About The Position
The Equipment Operator II is trained to operate specialized equipment and perform specific tasks related to golf course grounds maintenance at TPC Southwind, a private golf course in Southeast Memphis, Tennessee. The role includes operating and maintaining equipment, completing assigned golf course maintenance tasks, following established procedures and safety standards, and helping keep the maintenance facility clean, organized, and safe. The position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, and travel is not expected. Shifts are scheduled as necessary based on business levels.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- At least 6 months of experience as an Equipment Operator I, or at least 1 year of experience in golf course operations or a similar position.
- Ability to comply with applicable federal, state, and local safety and health regulations.
- Ability to lift, pull, or push up to or over 50 pounds and move or lift items with awkward weights.
- Close, depth, color, distance, and peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Nice To Haves
- Education in turfgrass management or a related field may substitute for the work experience requirement.
Responsibilities
- Perform all duties and tasks associated with the Equipment Operator I position.
- Maintain logs for the operation, maintenance, and gas usage of each machine.
- Perform daily tasks necessary to keep the maintenance facility clean, organized, and safe.
- Clean machinery after each use.
- Inspect machines and report deficiencies to the Equipment Technician.
- Perform other functions and routine golf course maintenance activities as directed by the Director of Golf Course Maintenance Operations or an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent.
- Complete training for task procedures before performing each task.
- Follow the Golf Course Maintenance Operations Manual guidelines for each specific task.
- Perform assigned Operator I and II training tasks, including tri-plex mowing of tees, approaches, fairway collars, and rough.
- Aerify greens and tees; spike greens; vertical mow greens and tees; and mechanically top-dress greens and tees.
- Operate a sod cutter and mechanically rake bunkers.
- Install and repair drainage.
- Wear required personal protective clothing and use protective equipment in accordance with safety operating standards.
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
