Equipment Operator II (Street Cleaning Program)
About The Position
An Equipment Operator II operates one or more types of heavy automotive equipment. An employee in this class exercises considerable skill in manipulating heavy motor equipment while paying constant attention to safety of operation in order to prevent accidents. Assignments are outlined in detail by supervisors. Standard procedures are followed and work is inspected periodically for safety and economy of operation. This class differs from that of an Equipment Operator I in that it requires a higher degree of skill and greater consequence of error in the form of damage to more expensive equipment. Incumbent in this class leads the work of Laborers and Refuse Collectors.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- At least two (2) years of experience driving related equipment in the field of Street Cleaning.
- Ability to demonstrate supervisory skills.
- Must possess a valid Commercial Driver’s license (CDL) issued by the state of residence with all applicable endorsements.
- Thorough knowledge of traffic safety rules and regulations.
- Must be able to read and comprehend technical materials and evaluate work orders.
- Must have the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to make minor repairs and adjustments to equipment.
- Physical ability to perform job tasks under all types of weather conditions.
