Join us in maintaining and enhancing the infrastructure that supports our vibrant community. We are seeking dedicated and skilled Equipment Operators to join our Public Works team. As an Equipment Operator, you will play a crucial role in the construction, maintenance, and repair of county roads and related systems. You’ll be responsible for operating and maintaining a variety of light to heavy-duty equipment to ensure the safety and functionality of our county’s road infrastructure. Requirements
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices for equipment operation.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment in a construction or maintenance setting is preferred.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining heavy equipment is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Operates specialized light to heavy duty equipment such as hand tools, weeds sprayers, compactors, backhoe, front-end loader, water truck, tack wagon; power broom/street sweeper, chipper, roller, tractor, trucks, dump trucks, vac truck, snow plow and sanders and other similar equipment in the maintenance, construction and repair of county road system; clears culverts of debris; repairs pot holes, highway shoulders, and snow removal operations.
- Performs all duties as assigned related to street, road and right-of-way maintenance.
- Checks and services assigned equipment and other equipment as directed; performs routine maintenance and emergency repairs; reports mechanical problems to the shop for repair; operates a variety of hand and power tools in performing general maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
- Performs duties with due regard for personal safety, that of other employees and the public; performs as a flagger when assigned to assure safety while working on highways.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
