About The Position

Working under the general supervision of a Foreman or Manager, this role operates large and small dump trucks, large and small agricultural tractors pulling half batwing mower decks, zero-turn mowers, and walk-behind mowers. The position involves mowing road right-of-ways, including areas around retention ponds, sweeping paved road shoulders and bike lanes, operating steel wheel rollers for compaction, and hauling spoil dirt and clean fill for roadway repairs. Additionally, the role includes washing, cleaning, and performing routine maintenance on equipment.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED and three years of working experience, or an equivalent combination of formal education and working experience.
• Must possess a valid Class E Driver’s License.
• Knowledge of the safe operation and capabilities of medium and heavy construction equipment.
• Knowledge of the component parts, operating principles, and maintenance needs of medium and heavy equipment.
• Knowledge of traffic and highway safety rules and regulations and of effective precautionary measures to avoid accidents.
• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
• Ability to move heavy objects and endure strenuous laboring tasks under varying weather conditions.
• Skill in the operation of moderately complex construction and transportation equipment.

Nice To Haves

• A valid Florida Class A or B commercial driver's license (CDL) with tanker and/or hazmat and tanker endorsements is preferred.
• Holders of a Class A or B CDL are eligible for incentive pay based on the CDL license classification and endorsements.

Responsibilities

• Mows road right-of-ways including mowing around retention ponds associated with road right-of-ways.
• Sweeps paved road shoulders and bike lanes with a tractor-mounted sweeper.
• Operates steel wheel rollers to provide compaction of dirt and asphalt.
• Hauls spoil dirt and clean fill or other material as needed to provide repairs to roadways.
• Washes, cleans, and performs routine maintenance to equipment.
