The Equipment Operator I/CDL Driver is an entry-level position within the Equipment Operator series. This role involves performing unskilled and semi-skilled duties in operating vehicles and equipment essential for the construction, maintenance, and repair of county roads and right-of-ways. Responsibilities include operating various light and medium equipment such as weed trimmers, chainsaws, mowers, skid steers, compactors, patch trucks, sweepers, loaders, backhoes, and single/tandem axle trucks. Duties may extend to asphalt overlay preparation, hauling materials, assisting with road graveling, shoveling, raking, sweeping, traffic control, and snow/ice management, with specific tasks varying by district. The position requires availability for emergency response and snow removal operations 24/7, with a requirement to report to an assigned shop within one hour of being called.
