About The Position

The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Southcoast Region Highways and Aviation/M&O is looking for an Equipment Operator Foreman 1 in Akutan to help us Keep Alaska Moving! This role involves supervising the airport maintenance crew (6 full-time) by planning, scheduling, and directing daily operations. Responsibilities include performing and overseeing maintenance activities such as snow and ice control, road and airport surface repair, vegetation management, and drainage work. The position also requires operating and coordinating the use of heavy equipment like plow trucks, loaders, graders, and dozers. Additionally, the Foreman will maintain records and reports of daily work, inventory, and materials using the state’s Maintenance Management System (AGILE), respond to public inquiries, manage personnel matters, and coordinate with other agencies and DOT&PF departments on projects and permitting.

Requirements

  • Class A Commercial Driver's License and qualified to operate all equipment at the duty station.
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work.
  • Two years of experience in the maintenance and repair of highways or airports.
  • Class A Alaska Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with N-Tanker endorsement is required at time of hire.
  • Must have a current valid driver`s license.
  • Participate in a pre-employment drug test and in a random drug and alcohol testing program for the term of employment.
  • If required, Foreman may need Haz Mat Endorsement.
  • Class A CDL w/Tanker endorsement (49 CFR Part 383.93).
  • Must be able to provide consent to the Employer to review driver information in accordance with 49 CFR 382.
  • If you have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence you may not hold a position in this job class in accordance with the Federal Omnibus Consolidated Appropriations Act of 1997 (PL-104-208).
