About The Position

The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Southcoast Region Highways and Aviation/M&O is looking for an Equipment Operator Foreman 1 in Juneau to help us Keep Alaska Moving! In this position, you will lead and supervise a maintenance station, managing work schedules, priorities, and safety practices for a team of up to 10 employees. You will inspect highway assets, determine maintenance needs, and oversee complex maintenance and repair activities, ensuring accurate documentation in the AGILE program. You will also serve as the primary point of contact for the traveling public and review proposed design plans for highway, dock, and float projects in the area. Additionally, you will coordinate equipment repair and servicing with State Equipment Fleet staff, ensuring timely maintenance and recommending replacements as needed. This role also involves hands-on highway maintenance, including snow and ice control, pavement and drainage work, brushing, sign and guardrail repair, and related tasks using a variety of heavy equipment.

Requirements

  • Class A Commercial Driver's License and qualified to operate all equipment at the duty station.
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work.
  • Two years of experience in the maintenance and repair of highways or airports.
  • Possess a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) per federal regulations (49 CFR 383).
  • Register with the federal CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing Clearinghouse prior to performing safety sensitive duties.
  • Provide consent to the Employer to review driver information in accordance with 49 CFR 382.
  • A Class A Alaska Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with N-Tanker endorsement is required at time of hire.
  • Comply with the DOT&PF Drug and Alcohol Policy and procedures.
  • Pass the required Pre-Employment drug test.
  • Three (3) professional references, including name, job title, and current phone numbers.
  • Copy of your last two (2) performance evaluations (or letters of recommendation if unavailable).
  • Copy of your Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Fill in the Education section of the application.
  • Provide employer’s name, job title, dates of employment, and whether full-or part-time for work experience not already documented in the application.
