About The Position

This position is involved in the operation of light equipment used in the operation, maintenance and repair of parks, buildings, playgrounds, trees, streets, sidewalks, drainage, and general maintenance. Work varies seasonally and is predominantly an outdoor position. This position involves the operation of power equipment. The incumbent operates lawn mowers, weed eaters, tractor with mower, ditch diggers, hedge trimmers, as well as other hand tools. Routine maintenance and lubrication of equipment is performed. This position reports directly to the Operations Superintendent under the Public Works Director. Work is performed both independently and in a team.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Some experience in operating light or heavy equipment
Valid State of FL Drivers License
CDL is recommended
Some knowledge of tools used in grounds and building maintenance.
Ability to comprehend and carry out oral instructions
Ability to perform manual labor, sometimes under adverse weather conditions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, facility users and residents
Ability to perform work without close supervision at times
Ability to read, write and perform basic math problems
Ability to operate vehicles and trucks
Physically able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds unassisted, or more with assistance
Mechanical ability to troubleshoot causes of mechanical failure and determine appropriate corrective action
Ability to participate in, understand and implement appropriate OSHA training
