About The Position

The City of Beloit’s Public Works Department is hiring an Equipment Operator-Excavation in the Water Resources Division. The position repairs and maintains the public water supply distribution system, sanitary sewer system, and storm sewer system. It also involves routine maintenance and troubleshooting of job-related equipment and assisting other work groups with excavation activities as assigned.

The position is subject to an on-call duty schedule for off-hours water resources infrastructure emergencies, with a maximum average response time. Regular on-call availability is a requirement. Compensation is $25.00 per hour, plus a $40.00 daily stipend for on-call shifts.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
• Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), or ability to obtain one within six months of hire.
• One year of responsible work experience using heavy equipment in construction or public/private utility work.
• Regular availability for on-call shifts.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with public water systems is preferred.
