About The Position

This position works on, in, and around docks on the Minnesota River. Candidates must be comfortable working near water and around moving equipment. The role supports barge unloading/loading and material-handling operations during night-shift hours.

Requirements

  • Comfortable working near water and around moving equipment
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision
  • Ability to perform adjustments and preventive maintenance on mobile and material-handling equipment
  • Ability to maintain and grade roads, ramps, berms, and stockpiles
  • Ability to keep dock hoppers, aprons, loading areas, driveways, and material-handling equipment clean and free of buildup
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness inside the dock building
  • Ability to complete a full walk-through of the dock area each shift to identify hazards or potential issues
  • Frequent reaching, grasping, turning, pinching, and handling objects
  • Ability to perceive size, shape, temperature, and texture through touch
  • Frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing ladders/stairs, and bending
  • Requires motor coordination, finger dexterity, eye-hand-foot coordination, and color recognition
  • Lift, carry, push, pull, and move up to 50 lbs, with frequent lifting of up to 25 lbs
  • Exposure to noise, dust, vibration, and irritating atmospheres
  • Frequent outdoor work in varying weather conditions
  • Work safely around moving equipment and water
  • Repetitive and continuous work tasks

Responsibilities

  • Perform safety and operational inspections on mobile equipment, cleaning systems, material-handling equipment, emissions controls, and the work environment
  • Operate, monitor, and adjust equipment using alarms, sensors, and manual controls
  • Follow written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision
  • Provide suggestions for improvements and problem-solving
  • Perform adjustments and preventive maintenance on mobile and material-handling equipment
  • Maintain and grade roads, ramps, berms, and stockpiles
  • Keep dock hoppers, aprons, loading areas, driveways, and material-handling equipment clean and free of buildup
  • Maintain cleanliness inside the dock building
  • Complete a full walk-through of the dock area each shift to identify hazards or potential issues
  • Perform other duties as assigned
