About The Position

The Equipment Mechanic is part of the Operations team and is responsible for diagnosing and repairing machinery and mechanical equipment. The role maintains operational equipment through preventive maintenance and repairs, troubleshooting, inventory management, and coordination with managers and outside vendors. It also maintains equipment repair and maintenance logs and follows applicable safety procedures and regulations. The work environment includes rotating day, evening, and night shifts; extreme outdoor temperatures, dusty conditions, and occasional high noise levels. The role may involve working around fast-moving equipment and operating various types of equipment. The position has no supervisory responsibilities. The pay range is $27.00–$29.00 per hour. Final compensation may vary based on geographic market, related experience, skill set, and other relevant factors. The employer is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Requirements

At least 5 years of experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment and machinery, conveyor systems, and production machinery.
High school diploma.
Experience with power and hand tools.
Valid driver's license.
Possess, or be able to obtain and maintain, a valid TWIC card.
Strict commitment to observing health and safety requirements and strong working knowledge of applicable safety and accident prevention codes and regulations.
Knowledge and understanding of parts and supply inventory management.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to work rotating day, evening, and night shifts.
Ability to work in extreme outdoor temperatures, very dusty conditions, and occasional high noise levels.
Ability to work in an environment that may be hazardous to people unable to see and hear fast-moving equipment.
Ability to operate various types of equipment.

Responsibilities

Complete preventive maintenance and repairs on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, heavy machines and equipment, and production equipment, using diagrams, manuals, manufacturer instructions, and engineering specifications.
Troubleshoot malfunctions and identify problems by observing equipment in operation, listening for problems, and using measuring and testing equipment.
Inform managers about routine maintenance scheduling and techniques to control downtime.
Develop and maintain professional working relationships with parts and supply vendors and service companies.
Manage parts and supply inventories by setting appropriate levels, controlling stock, anticipating repair needs, and pre-ordering necessary parts and supplies.
Provide mechanical maintenance information in response to questions and requests.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment by following procedures, rules, and regulations.
Maintain logs of equipment repairs and maintenance and adhere to the equipment maintenance schedule.
Report problems and issues to the appropriate manager.
Perform other related duties as required.
